The safe system assessment (SSA) found that all design options will improve alignment with safe system principles. The roundabout option achieved the lowest score and best aligns with safe system principles. This option has the lowest score because it significantly reduces the likelihood and severity of intersection and motorcycle crashes by reducing vehicle speeds on all approaches to the intersection.
Further safety improvements were identified to align the designs closer to safe system principles.
